Phone maintenance

BT have stopped selling traditional business phone lines

It may be the UK’s best kept secret with the Global Coronavirus pandemic, Brexit impact, Megxit fallout and the future of work consuming all the air time and social media channels, but another revolution is quietly happening in the UK telecoms industry …

The closure of the PSTN networks and the transition to all-VoIP networks – and it started in 2020 with Salisbury and this month in Mildenhall. In these locations business customers can now only purchase Fibre connections. By December 2022 BT Openreach will switch off legacy copper based services like PSTN & ISDN phones lines in these locations.

What does that mean for you?

If you are a small business with a phone line and a broadband service and you publish the phone number on your website then you need to start planning for these changes. When your area changes to Fibre only, you will need to change your current configuration as your phone number will not be able to remain on a traditional copper based phone line.

The good news is if you already have Fibre to the street cabinet (FTTC) or Fibre to the premises (FTTP) you don’t have to wait and RHM can help you right now.

What can I do now?

If you have FTTC or FTTP available already in your area RHM can help you make the transition now and we have come up with a perfect bundle to help you do this. For broadly the same monthly budget we can migrate you to a Fibre based Internet connection with a Digital Phone line which has far superior functionality than a standard legacy phone line.

RHM Phone Line +

Starting from £34.99 per month the RHM bundle will include:

  • An internet connection with speeds of up to 80Mbps down and 20Mbps up.
  • Phone Line + a digital phone line retaining your old number
  • Calls to UK landline and Mobile

What do I get with Phone Line +

Phone Line + will retain your old number but give you a host of additional features. It also boasts a fantastic Softphone and Mobile APP
